If yes, The Alchemist is the perfect book. Once in a decade a book is written that has the power of changing lives of not only millions of individuals but of the entire nation. Believe me no exaggeration here. The Alchemist is truly a wonderful book.
Alchemist, The:
I am a chemical engineer and am a member of alchemists2k3 founded by the pass outs of my college. When I joined the group, very little I knew about this word:Alchemist. I only knew that alchemy is a science of turning anything into gold. It was after that I read this phenomenal book by Paulo Coelho, that I understood what the word actually meant. The author has been successful in telling a magical tale.
Its all written:Makhtub
The Alchemist is a highly inspirational book. I have always loved the writers who use fiction to tell their philosophies. The only other writer that I have cherished reading for using fiction to profess a philosophy is Ayn R and. Paulo Coelho is only the 2nd author so far that I found as interesting as Ayn.
Well this book is about a boy named Santiago, who has a dream and in order to fulfill his dream he travels to far off places. On his way to find his destiny he encounters an Alchemist. The alchemist teaches him what is called the Soul of the World. The message hidden is that the universe conspires to help every heart that has learnt about its destiny. There are so many things to be learnt from the adventures of the boy Santiago. No wonder the book has helped millions to get on with their lives and motivated every reader. I am just too glad that I could read The Alchemist.
Besides having a wonderfully magical storyline, there is a slight suspense generated by the author about the fate of the protagonist:Santiago. And the highlight of the book is certainly the epilouge to the book. The end of the book teaches the most. All throughout the book we as readers feel excited about what is going to happen to the boy Santiago. But its not a suspense thriller kind of book. It is the unexpected end of the book that makes me write this. Its a definite-must-read book.
Few last lines:
Follow your dreams. With this magical sentence I would like to conclude this review and would urge all the reading fanatics out there......GO AND GRAB this book.
Happy reading to all!
