THE ALCHEMIST is a Book that was written by Paulo Coelho. It was published in 1993 by the Harper San Francisco Publishing House. It is a very small Book that has 170 pages.
~O MY REVIEW O~
This Book is based in the 17th Century and is about a Boy who is a Shepard. His name is Santiago.
He has a dream and follows the signs to look for a hidden treasure. The treasure is somewhere in Egypt and near the one of the Pyramids.
While Santiago in on his journey he sees the World and meets very different People. There is a King, a Gypsy and an Alchemist. He also meets a beautiful girl and falls in love with her. He wonders if she is his ’’soul mate’’.
She might be but he feels that he must find out what his destiny will be so he leaves her. When he reaches Egypt he goes to see the Pyramids near Cairo where he meets a Child. The Child is suppose to tell him where to find the treasure.
Throughout the Book there are some hardship. Each time that happens he is almost ready to give up. He knows that he can’t and each time he overcomes this he has learned a lot and is much stronger.
This Story has words that have other meanings. An Alchemist is suppose to know the secret of how to turn any metal into gold. Why was this Book called The Alchemist? Who was the Shepard? Will he return back to the Girl? Did he find the Treasure? I hope you will read the Book and find it for yourself!

I think this Book is a classic. It is a magical Story that shows us the Medieval Mysticism. We all could learn a lesson from it because if we work hard and follow our ’’dreams’’ we will get what we want.
If you have not read this Book I hope that you will. I highly recommend it to you.
