I simply loved this movie and would recommend anyone to see it. I have personally seen it atleast a dozen times and yet I do not tire of watching it again. What I really liked about the movie is they way they have handled delicate emotions with such fine essence.
There is no melodrama (esp when the heroine Annette Bening goes to meet the daugther of the American President Michael Douglas, I think in a Hindi movie, they would have definately include a song sequence here). Similarly when Michael Douglas takes on Richard Deyfruss at the end of the movie, there such a great degree of sophistication in the manner he takes on his opponent. And maybe that is what I have really liked about this whole movie, the degree of professionalism and poshness about it. You really start believing that if the American President was a widower and if he fell in love with another women while in office, he would in all probability pursue this exact course of action.
Another thing I have liked about this movie is the supporting cast. Michael J Fox is superby in the role of his secretary and Martin Sheen is also very good in the role of his Chief of Staff. I think both these actors are fantastic. However it must have been a somewhat odd experience for Martin Sheen in playing the role of Chief of Staff to the president when he himself played the role of President of USA as John F kennedy in the popular tv series J.F.K. I end this review on a sad note. That mostly being about Michael J Fox. I love this guy in his lead role in the Back to Future movie series and it is so sad to know now that this bright career has been cut short due to him suffering from Parkinsonism. Did see me again make a small appearance in the TV series Boston Legan, but his trembling was really very visible. I wish him all the best in life.
