Let me first start with what is this place all about?
Well, Almost everyone must have visited a buffet spread out where they serve hot dumplings in wooden tiffin. Momo is a type of dumpling! If you haven’t had momo then go try it out. However your opinion would matter from place to place, ie if you have it from a good joint then you would add this dish to your favorites list. I’ve tried momo’s from different joints, first being this one which I’m reviewing! This place serves one of the best momo’s in town, I can bet on this so this place attracts a huge number of people everyday.
How to get here?
This place is very famous as it’s not a new place, initially this joint was very small, and they have recently extended this joint. I’m a regular visitor of this place since the time when it was a small shop.
This place is very close to station, hardly 5 mins walk from station. There are two branches of this place, one is in Thane and other is in Kanjurmarg. I’ve found both the joints quite similar however the Kanjurmarg joint has just opened.
Let me describe this place in terms of the ambiance:
There’s no ambiance as such to this place as it’s not a place where people can spend hours and hours sitting and enjoying! But one compliment that I would give is that this place decorated quite well with kind of graffiti done on the walls. It makes you read through the comic strip or one can say the origin they have portrayed.
One more thing that is worth mentioning is that this place provides free wifi to it’s customer and one can access wifi only after buying a particular dish as the password is on the bill. If your and regular visitor than need not worry as the password is the same :P
Loud music in order to attract people is a good technique implemented by these guys as many people out of curiosity stare at the joint one day landing up at the joint.
How is the service?
Considering the crowd and space constraint I suppose they are delivering good quality of service as there is always a mess while placing the order but the time of delivery of the dish is quick!
However one negative aspect I would say is that they always fall short of Garlic Sauce and it is one of the highlight which would enhance the taste of any momo’s that you order. So the next time you plan to visit make sure that Garlic Sauce is available, however the schwezwan sauce is not bad either! Initially they used to even put chaat masala, Don’t know why they exactly stopped it!
Food and Presentation?
Coming to the presentation, I don’t feel they try to present their dishes in a fancy manner as the taste that they deliver does the talking big time. So don’t expect the dish would be presented very artistically here as it’s presented at other momo’s joint (Talking about momo’s joint in mall etc).
Now coming to the various dishes here:
My favorite is chilly cheese steamed chicken momo’s! A must try dish although the cheese get melted you can feel the cheesy taste mixed with the chicken. For every non-veg dish there is a substitute in veg as in there is chilly cheese steamed paneer/veg momo’s which can be enjoyed by the vegetarian.
There is wide variety in the types of momo’s including paneer, cabbage, egg, chicken, mutton so there is wide variety considering the fact that they are just selling momo’s.
I have tried almost all the momos, except the ones in mutton as I prefer not having mutton from out. Try out the achaari types of momos as well! The creamy as well is yummy. All the dishes served at this joint is mouth-watering and makes you go crazy!
I would say that this place is one of the best in town as I have ate from many joints but this one fascinates me every time! I haven’t found any other momo joint as yummy as this. If you are in and around Thane or Kanjurmarg do find this place on any cost and try it once.
Their Fried momo’s are also killer! If you don’t enjoy the stickiness of steam momo you can opt for the crispness of fried momo’s & trust me you won’t be disappointed either.
Few improvements that I would like to see in this place is that the Garlic Sauce should be made available every time and the addition of chaat masala too should be implemented again.
Maybe word of mouth would help this place grow but they should concentrate more on promotion of this place.
Conclusion:
A must try place for everyone! A very nice concept by these guys, and the best part is that this place is very close to my house so I can visit this place whenever I feel like having some snacks into chicken. A highly recommended place! All the best, and may it do well :)
