Art of War* is a book written around 500 BC by a famous Chinese General*Sun Tz*u. It is regarded as the worlds oldest military treatise which describes the most basic principles for the conduct of war. Its a very concise book and contains 13 chapter spread over less than 100 pages. Pages are few but value is immense as it contains the eternal principles of warfare, now taught in almost ever army school of the world. "The best battle, says Sun Tzu is the battle that is won without being fought."
Now the question is, why should a non military person read it? Because it has amazing relevance to the world of business, management, sports, diplomacy as well as to personal lives. Of late it has become an essential part of theStrategic Management curriculum.
Many books and movies are based on these principles. Also Sun Tzu originally wrote it in Chinese. The translation of this book is available in many languages. Must get hold of it to sharpen your strategising skills. One good translation is by Lionel Giles.
