The Blair witch Project, well, where to start from, I would love to comment on this Title.
And now starting with this uniquely differently presented movie, the way it was promoted, the way it was released, the way it has been directed, well, I guess, I mean I m quite sure that no movie or even a real life Documentary can beat this.
In fact the promotion was done showing that the footage is real life, that was founded in the forest and before the film was released, the three main actors were listed as "missing, presumed dead" on the IMDb.
The three leads believed the Blair Witch was a real legend during filming, though of course they knew the film was going to be fake. Only after the films release did they discover that the entire mythology was made up by the films creators.
Now My Take on It
I first saw it 3 years ago, and as it was a kind of movie which I did not expect it to be after reading the review from imdb.com, so for the first ninety minutes, I was kinda sleeping ;0, ... {well, this is wat u can expect from a muvi that has the camera in the hands of the cast itself, and every 3rd or 4th second, a swear word, ( f, sh, a and hell lots of swears) This what imdb has to say abut profanity:::About 130 F-words, many anatomical references, lots of scatological references, many mild obscenities and a profane finger gesture.
and they it was rated R.}
...but than, when I woke up, just kiddding, I mean I never expected this to b a documentary, but still I watched it, and its broken frames, its itchy bitchy background sound, {[i was so confused b4 writing this review, while rating the Plot, cast performance and Soundtrack]} I mean I was totally blank when it ended, and I was like , !@#$%^&*()_, and I said to myself, Well, chunkz, ye kya hai yaar, ye maine kya dekh liya.
and than, as usual, what I do after watching an English movie, I always do this, Movie ends, and I visit imdb.com, for the points I missed, the things I did not get, in-fact I just go thru each and every part of that movie from A to zee in imdb.
Usual happened that day as well, and I wished that I had not done that, coz after reading what the ending was all about ( Thr are hell lot of people on imdb who have posted the comments about ending, n thrs a separate forum named, "The ending")
When I opened it and read it, common man, weird, than I was like @#$%^&(&( and I said to myself, Well, chunkz, YE KYA HAI YAAR, YE MAINE KYA DEKH LIA.
What usually happens @ the end of a horror film, in this case, happened after reading this thread when I read about the ending and what actually it was.I went upstairs, again as usual, told my lil sis, u got to watch this!!!, as she is also a horror flick fan, in fact my elder bro as well, so on day, I mean on the following sunday night @ 8, I said, bhai, blair witch dekhni hai,
He said, chal dekhte hai, my sis also nodded, so I played the movie, but I wanted that they should enjoy it on the first go, unlike me, so I told them before playing the movie that its a documentary, and not a conventional movie, with a cameraman directing it, the cast holds the camera, and thats it!Ve started the ride, well, unexpectedly, (as I was thinking my brother wont like it a bit) My bro was like, chunky, pagal hai kya ye raat ko kya dikha diya, ( we started muvi @ 8:30 and with few pauses and all, ended @ 10:30)
And than, turned it off, and than I walked to the corner of the room, as the lights were off, n we were about to sleep, i, standing in the corner, called my sis, she saw me standing like Mike, n she said, Pagal hai, mat daraa yaar, we all were so scared that we werent able to sleep that night, and in my case, for 3 nights.
Well, watched it 4 times, I mean showed it 3 times to my freinds, and cousins, n they all loved it! n my personal favorite scene is when Heather confess that its her fault, really cried( But on second occasion, coz pehle time me to so rha tha na yaar, Lolz). This film was in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "Top Budget:Box Office Ratio" (for a mainstream feature film). The film cost $22, 000 to make and made back $240.5 million, a ratio of $1 spent for every $10, 931 made.
Whooooo.......
