Star actors Jodie Foster and Terrence Howard portray a victim of crime, a vigilante and a compassionate detective deliver thought provoking and very good performances in Neil Jordans directorial debut, and new release of "The Brave One". Before watching this movie I had very low expectations of it I wondered if this would be a good or bad movie. I was surprised that "The Brave One" delivers a good suspenseful police drama. Its a predictable story, but it delivers.
In this movie Jodie Foster delivers a much more powerful, and assertive performance when she takes on a more dominant role as the powerful vigilante instead of a weak, and docile role as your typical victim of crime. Foster delivers this powerful performance by showing us a tough woman who takes complete control of her decisions, and a strong pathology of revenge. A role we didnt see her portray in her lead role as a rape victim in "The Accused."
"The Brave One" is a gripping story of revenge, and vigilantism. This story begins when a woman and her boyfriend are attacked by a mob of Puertorican gangsters, her boyfriend is killed, and their dog is kidnapped. Jodie Foster who portrays the victim sets out on a trial of revenge at every opportunity, from shooting every villain who comments a crime against the innocent, and using the local media as a tool. Her repeated acts of revenge, and vigilantism takes on different twists that surprises everyone.
Viewers can look forward to a good suspenseful movie, and good performances from lead actors Jodie Foster, and Terrence Howard. The entire cast delivers good roles along with some very decent writing, direction and a host of good action scenes. I will give this movie three stars for its instance drama plot, and good acting by star actor Jody Foster and Terrence Howard and good direction from Neil Jordon.
