The Butterfly Effect-plot somewhat revealed

The Butterfly Effect. What a cool name for a movie. I originally saw this movie with a group of my friends. My friends and I love to watch movies together, especially horror ones, The Butterfly Effect, was not scary, but was an excellent movie.

Ashton Kutcher, who usually plays a dumb character, like in That 70’s Show, or Punk’d, but this is no comedy. Ashton plays Evan. The movie starts as Evan is a child. He is friends with Kayleigh, who is played by Amy Smart(when she grows up) and her evil brother named Tommy. When they are young, Evan’s mom drops him off at Kayleigh’s house and the father tells them that he is going to make a film with the children in it. A Peter Pan one. But then he tells the children to take off their clothes, to make a child porn movie. But Evan blacks out and doesn’t remember what happened. This happens often, Evan blacks out and doesn’t remember certain events.

The kids decide to put TNT in a mailbox, when a mom and her baby approach it, they die. All Evan can remember is holding his hands on Kayleigh’s ears. Tommy hates Evan, he is furious that Evan likes his sister. Tommy is very agressive. They are in the woods when Tommy kills Evan’s dog, but he blacks out and wakes to see Kayleigh hurt. Evan is confused and is blacking out constantly. His mother takes him to the doctor, nothing helps. Evan’s father is in jail. Evan goes to visit him one day and his father almost kills him.

As the years go by, Evan is no longer a kid and is in college. He shares a room with a guy who likes to have sex and does drugs. He finds his old journals and notices that the writing starts to move and he starts to remember the incident that he could never before.

Later, he is curious about Kayleigh, he had promised to come back for her, but he never did. He goes back to his home town and finds out that Kayleigh is a waitress. She is depressed and doesn’t want to see Evan. That night Evan gets a call from Kayleighs brother, Tommy, who is furious and tells Evan that Kayleigh has killed herself.

As Evan reads more of his childhood journals, he discovers when he reads the entry he can go back to the incident and change it! But this is not easy on himself, when he changes the smallest thing, his entire life is changed. He wakes up in Kayleigh’s bed, goes to jail, wakes up in a wheelchair and so much more. He discovers that every time he changes his past, his present does as well.

That’s all I will tell about the movie. This movie had a good plot with pretty good acting and a neat ending to the movie. The special effects were good as well.
