What are you waiting for? I can’t recommend much stronger than this.
It’s going to make a change, but I’m not going to point out any kind of fault with this movie…I can’t think of one. No movie is perfect, but if a movie is good enough you either don’t see its imperfections or forgive them. For me, with The Clinic, it’s the former. Even its previously mentioned need to sometimes borrow ideas from other movies…truth is it did them so much better. Some may have felt the need for more gore…for me anything more would have just felt gratuitous in a movie that worked too well on too many other levels. The power behind the story should be enough to twist the mind and the stomach…believe me it works.
I’m really surprised to see that The Clinic is the feature directorial debut of Rabbitts, and this guy could go on to become a power player in horror filmland. The cast did an incredible job too with Spartacus: Blood and Sand‘s Andy Whitfield making a very believable desperate male lead. And the cast of female victims running, screaming and crying their way through their roles faultlessly(pointing out that Bethell, who played Beth, was on her first lead role here, too.)
View this movie. Soon as you possibly can. It’s an exercise in professionalism and care from the people behind it, and an exercise of tension and mystery for those who watch it. It was the kind of movie I just want to restart as soon as it ends even though I know the answers. I felt sick with tension, and I’m not ashamed to say I teared up a little a couple of times with emotion. Halfway through I had to pause it for a few minutes to catch my breath…that was hell, but it needed doing. Even A Serbian Film didn’t warrant that for me.
