Dance Music Vol I

Hello PPL.

I was encouraged by the overwhelming response. I have always wanted to talk about Dance Music and the kind of realisation I got when I arrived into the club scene in London. As a ritual of browsing the net I opened google one day to search on the Dance Music scene in India. And that is where I read about Bluesky’s review on l’attitude which talked about things that are missing in the Indian Club. Well my first initiation to the Scene (usually referred to as RAVE) happened on Aug 09 2002 in Dublin. I went to Cream Fields where I saw some of the best DJ’s perform. Paul Van Dyk, Fergie, Ferry Corsten dint make much sense to me at that time. The music was kicking and every time the Drum Role kicked in and the music went sober u could see people just calming themselves and when the Bass kicks in again that is when the whole floor erupted. When I say floor it was floor with loads of grass cause it was happening in this huge field. I was totally taken aback by the music that was generated out this small piece of metal on a vinyl material. It was so simple but the result maximum. I was never good at any instrument but always inclined to music. I would listen all kinds of music and a very staunch follower of punk rock before I got a taste of trance, progressive, Hardhouse, Hard Tranc. The thought of buying a pair of decks came into mind. 2 and a half months later during Christmas the same year got it with out knowing what to do with them.

Next – my intiation to DJing
