On 16th May, me, my wife and a family friend, went to the Cream and Fudge factory opposite forum mall in Koramangala, Bangalore. Although the joint is a premium ice cream join the service was the the most horrible that I experienced. Even a chai wala on the road side selling pakodas has better control over his customer orders than this white collar joint. We entered the joint around 10:40pm and it was buzzing with people at the counter and several who were already seated at the tables waiting for their orders to be delivered. For the first time I saw that customers were made to sit and wait on their tables for some thing as simple as an ice cream.
The joint had 8 staff members including 1 manager and still were short of hands delivering the orders. As the bill payment queue has 6-7 people in waiting, a waiter approached us to take our order, we promptly gave him three order of premium flavours all in double scoops. After four reminder and waiting 55 mins and when Bangalore roads were deserted at 11:30pm we got our ice cream delivered to our table and that too all screwed up. My wife ordered a strawberry short cake, instead she got a Raspberry crush of some sort with cookies, my friend ordered a black forest he got a chocolate chip flavour and I had ordered for a chocolate brownie, which was all melted as they put the icream on top of a super heated brownie straight out of the microwave.
In the mean while several couple, walked out leaving their orders as they were already waiting for over 30 mins. We noticed that every order was messsed up and customers were complaining about what they ordered was not what they got. Infact my friend ordered a double scoop like me and to our suprise he was given a single scoop, he took it because we had waited for a long time and as the joint was about to be closed we didnt want to wait for another 1 hour. So we paid Rs 155/- for the double scoop and got some other thing worth Rs 80/-. I sent the Raspberry ice cream back and in turn got a so called Strawberry short cake - It was nothing more than a sponge cake with strawnberry Jam pasted all over the cake. They dont even know what is a short cake. The joint has 8 staff members but only 1 person making the ice-cream and the rest of them cant talk or understand the customer’s order.
I dont know how a premium joint like this can afford to give such bad service. The ice creams are not cheap but the service is super cheap. And to put it in a premium location like Koramangala is just the biggest farce. I mean visit it once and you will know how insignificant you are when they dont care about you after having taken the money. To add to this mess, the seating space is shared with Pizza Corner and hence both sets of staff members dont know what we are waiting for at the table, despite giving the order to the Cream and Fudge factory waiter, he didnt know we were waiting for our ice cream order.
