I happened to notice Da Vinci Code among the best sellers not only in India but around the world. Being a fiction novel reader and first time Dan Brown reader I decided to try it.
Before Dan brown I have read many novels by F.W.Dixon (The Hardy Boys), Alistair MacLean, Frederick Forsyth, John Grisham. I found all the above books worth recommending to my friends. But I wont recommend this book to anyone who has either started reading novels or is a regular reader.
Though the facts and symbols are amazing, but I found the story lacking of any mystery. I was able to figure out the secretive part of the story when I was in the middle of the book.
Though the writer has explained things beautifully, the mystery part is still lagging behind. I couldnt understand why the book became such a hit worldwide. In fact, I would prefer reading Hardy Boys to Da Vinci Code.
The codes symbols and language used in the book are decrypted by such an amazing ease by the heroes of the book that it can be compared to a hindi movie (The hero always gets the girl)
The only entertaining part I found in the book was the information on Priory of Sion and Opus Dei and the history and facts about Christianity.
