I knew very little about the movie, hadnt read any reviews and hence
thoroughly enjoyed it! Without getting too verbose and analytical, will
just point out some impressions:
- Lets start with the title.for
3/4ths of the movie I wondered what the title was all about(guess I
wouldnt have had I caught all the dialogs). Its such a chilled out
title and doesnt make too much hoohaa about whats to come and thats
the best part about it.
- The plot! whaoh! how come no one thought of
this one before!? Its like one of those inventions that come up and
you wonder.I could have thought of that! And thats the best part -
simplistic yet blows your mind! What do I know, maybe its been done
before.only I never got to see it.
- The acting.I am no one to
comment, but Jack Nicholson is so bloody convincing as Castello. No surprises from the veteran actor there. Me a
true Matt Damon fan has turned a Leonardo(chocolate-face) DiCaprio
fan! Your heart just goes out to the vulnerability he shows! And Matt Damon.he will always remain the Will Hunting I cant
get over! Towards the end of the movie though the complexity in his
character leaves an impression. Special mention of Vera Something-the
shrink.good that a well known face was not taken for this role.Of
course Martin Scorsese and team win hands down for the sharp
characters.
- The script.some of the lines remain etched From the
famous "When youre facing a loaded gun whats the difference?" to the
psychiatrist-patient conversations(Sigmund F@#$ing Freud as hes
fondly referred to by Castello - may his soul rest in peace!) to the
doses of gyaan Castello gives out.
- The Pace.after a long time I saw
something that almost had me biting my nails and for the couple of
hours I wasnt really aware of much around me in the real world!
So the
golden question.how soon is the desi version coming out?(Nothing I
do or say is gonna prevent that from happening!) And who will do
what?.lets hope Sanjay Dutt remains out of prison for this atleast!
We really dont want Shahrukh crying to the psychiatrist or Salman
sporting the cops trousers(only i.e) And lets hope alls not lost with
dukh bhari dastaans of sad flashbacks or club songs with the Isha
Koppikars of the world.
