Lilly James plays a Jewish spy for the Brits who has a forbidden love affair with a German Nazi assigned to babysit the Prince of Germany for Hitler.A period drama with brilliant acting from the cast, who each capture the essence of the characters they play. Christopher Plummer is memorable as the Kaiser, a bitter old man who has all but lost relevance in Nazi Germany. Jai Courtney and Lily James do a credible job as the ambivalent Army officer and reluctant assassin, while Janet Mcteer does a fine job of Princess Hermine, still hopeful of the restoration of the German monarchy. The story builds up the tension till the end and it is gratifying to note that there is a happy ending - you will know when you watch the film.
The movie was able to develop a large amount of emotions for me as it comes back and forth from romance to drama to war epic and even comedy. Very well done (Just a little whimsical to make those dramatic scene seven darker and the darkness of the drama makes you more compassionate about the love story happening.
