Based on a True Story

This movie believe me is not for people who are looking to die of an heart attack. In fact I will go two steps further in this context and say this aint even a proper horror movie. But it surely is one of the best piece of ’substance cinema’. The ’based on a true story’ tagline really helped the movie’s cause; Should’nt nythin away from Scott Derrickson (director, story), his screen adaptation is just fantastic.

The casting is fun and elemental to the movie (Campbell Scott’s , Colm Feore’s characterization were not upto the mark though!) Jennifer Carpenter is the high point in the entire cast. Her possession scenes are nothing short of incredible. I know this wont sound a bit exciting but I kinda found something more from this movie besides the chills and the thrills of any other horror flick. It’s too philosophical in it’s procedure.

Anneliese Michel, a young German woman who suffered the same fate the 1970s though was epileptic is the chief inspiration for the movie. n its her story that will touch you the most , not the demons possessing her not the effects in the movie, It’s the sheer story telling that will rub off you n u definetly would caryy it with ya for a long time.

4 of 5 for this movie..
