When I was in eight standard, I asked my father to buy me a Mills & Boons novel not knowing what exactly was it all about (I had just heard my friends going gaga over them. My father suggested that I read a few more Enid Blyton titles. Only after that, I shuffled my whole almirah to find out the couple of Enid Blyton titles I possessed. One of those was a ’’Famous Five’’ series. Between then and now, I own over 25 titles of Enid Blyton and almost all from the famous five series. Still, at the age of 25, The Famous Five are my best friends to transport me back to my childhood. While reading the Famous Five novels I always imagined myself as a part of the group, involved knee deep in an adventure, trying to solve a mystery. I always identified myself with George (Georgina actually), the tomboy who would not respond if one addressed her as Georgina. I too, gave myself a boyish name, and would only respond if I were called by that name. My Father still calls me with that name to tease me. Years have flown, but even after reading so many titles, my favourite novel is still the same. Even today, they are my favourite way to relax, to pass the time while travelling or to read at the bedtime.
