Well, starting from 2005 bollywood has been tremendous diversity regarding the films made.Although even today a whooping no of trash films are made every year some with a lot a big stars but still at least there are some good work too which was clearly missing in the 90’s when the big hits were all romantic films.
Look at the range of good(and hits-some of them are average grossers but good films nonetheless)films till aug 2006-Zinda, rang de basanti(The best so far), fanaa, krsihh, phir hera pheri(not a good film but a hit), golmaal, Corporate, OMAKAR(A close no 2)...the list goes on.Last year too there was an amazing range-black, page3, bunti aur bubly, salaam namaste-films hugely diff from each other and the best part is that all of them are hits.GREAT.Hindi films and its audience have come of age FINALLY
