I was throwing a b’day party and had ordered a 2 kg cake. When I called at 4:30 pm I was told, all is ready for pickup. I went to the store at 5:30 pm to pick up and was in for a surprise. The cake which was brought out was not as I had ordered. The store had come up with their own version of the cake and not as per my specification. Moreover the top layer was broken. When I complained of it, the response I got was more shocking "I will give you a discount on the cake, take it" . All the while, the manager was trying to make calls to their other store to see who can be blamed for the debacle.
Finally after 30 min, it was decided that the store would replace the cake and make one to the correct specification and bring it to my house by 6:30 pm. As a backup plan I would take the broken cake till the correct one arrives. From 7 pm to 8 pm, I tried calling the store and all I got was "someone is on the way". When I called at 8 pm to politely inform them that the cake cutting is over and the new cake is not needed, the response was the icing on the cake "We are bringing the new cake to you, what did you do to the old cake". Finally at 8:30 pm someone brought the cake and asked me "Pay for only 1 cake and you can keep both the cakes". Correct me if I am wrong. I thought I ordered only 1 cake and that too at 6:30 pm not at 8:30 pm.
Finally after couple of calls, the man left with his cake. What a way to ruin one’s b’day party. Guys watch out.. You order from French loaf, order in advance and make sure you pick in advance to avoid such a mess..
