Perhaps the first underwater war film, the film is the indian version of the underwater war between indian submarine S-21 and its pakistani counterpart PNS Ghazi which led to the sinking of Ghazi. After getting a tip-off from sources, Submarine S-21 is assigned a classified recce mission under the hot-headed Captain Rann Vijay Singh(Kay Kay Menon) with support from second-in Command Executive Officer Devraj(Atul Kulkarni) and to control the rebellious Captain, Lieutenant Commander Arjun Varma( Rana Daggubati) is asigned to make sure the captain does not take decision of his own. This shows the influence of the political government over the decisions taken by the armed forces. The whole underwater conflict is so engaging that it send chill down your spine anticipating that what will happen next. Specially in the second half, the firing of torpedos from both sides and missing by a whisker, it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Though Kay Kay Menons role ended in first half only, he is the main hero of the film. You can hate him for his arrogance and treat him as a dictator but strict decisions and the courageous plan he made inspired Rana Daggubati in executings his plan in better way and ultimately achieving success in destroying Ghazi.Rana also played his role very beautifully and Atul Kulkarni was sincere in his efforts as usual.
Overall a must film to watch not only because very little is known about this conflict, also because there of lot of unsung heroes in our country whom we do not know and debutant director has made a very sincere and successful effort to portray their bravery.
