O'Reillys Resort

Took a day trip to O’Reillys Resort located in the hinterland inland from Gold Coast in Lamington National Park. Spectacular views! Stopped at the Alpaca farm on the way up the mountain. If you have never seen these animals it is worth stopping to see them.

It takes about 45 minutes from the alpaca farm to get to O’Reillys. A good portion of the ride the road is only one car passage. Travelling through the rainforest with giantic trees and rainforest vegetation is worth the trip alone. On arrival at O’Reilly’s there is a picnic area where you can have lunch or a bbq. There is also a restaraunt where the food looked great. We took our own picnic lunch. After lunch we took one of the walks through the rain forest.

The path ways are an easy walk with great photo opportunities. The walk we chose was the one with the suspended cable bridge high above the ground and through the tree tops. Half way along the bridge you can climb an enclosed ladder which takes you up 30 metres to a landing on the tree and then another 25 metres to the next landing.

It is worthwhile taking the climb as the views are tremendous! If you ever get the chance to go to the Gold Coast take a least a day trip. Accommodation is also available.
