Mukesh, Golden Moments

MUKESH was born in Delhi on July 22, 1923. His father, Lala Zorawar Chand Mathur, was an engineer. He wanted his son to follow his footsteps. Lalaji had engaged a teacher to teach music to his daughter. Mukesh would sit in the adjoining room and listen to the teacher. This was how he picked up the intricacies of music.

Mukesh had lovely voice. All sad songs could be sung only by Mukesh. I have selected some songs from his exclusive album; which I like most.

1) Laut ke aa, laut ke aa, laut ke aa

aa laut ke aa jaa mere meet

tuze mere geet bulaate hai

meraa sunaa padaa re sangeet

tuze mere geet bulaate hai

This is from ?Raani Roopmati? released in 1957; Music composed by Bharat Vyas; written by S.N.Tripathi. This was picturised on Bharat Bhushan.

2) Aayaa hain muze fir yaad wo Zaalim

Guzaraa jamaanaa bachapan kaa

haaye re akele chhod ke jaanaa

aaur naa aanaa bachapan kaa

wo khel wo saathee, wo zoole

wo daud ke kahanaa, aa zoole

hum aaj talak bhee naa bhoole

wo khwaab suhaanaa bachapan kaa

Mukesh has many more songs to his credit and it is very difficult to chose best 10 among them. These are best according to me. You judge yourself. Read ; rate and comments please.
