The Hindu - No delivery of Tamil Edition 444 Offer - Nungambakkam & Shennoy Nagar
Going by the other reviews, the Hindu suffers a case of terrible suppliers. It better get its act together or it will lose for no fault of its own.
Verdict: Avoid the offer like a plague if you live in Nungambakkam, Shennoy Nagar or nearby areas.
The Hindu offered a special introductory offer of Rs. 444 for a 6 month subscription. I was visited by one Jaya Prakash and his friend who were selling subscriptions. I subscribed since I liked the English edition and my family members who were stuck with Tamil Political newspapers could do with some neutral newspapers(with a bit of leaning to the left).Three days of handing the cheque and it was encashed.
I subscribed and Jaya Prakash said, the newspaper will be delivered the next day. After 30 calls and a month later, here were the reasons given for the delay:Last week of the month of subscription: Sir, the paper will be delivered by the start of the next month.First Week of next month: Sir, I am speaking with the supplier in the area, he did not know the address. So I forwarded a copy of my address to him.(The bill had a copy of the address).Second week of the next month: Sir, you will receive the newspaper, by the 16th of this month so that there is a uniform delivery period.
One month since Cheque Delivered: I call him up to ask why the paper is not being delivered, and further asked him to get my refund. He rudely tells me it is not my responsibility to ensure delivery of the newspaper and that if he wants to receive a refund, I can approach the head office. This experience has left me irritated and henceforth better off reading the news off my phone.
