The inaugural offer for The Hindu Tamil was lapped up by the public including me!
As the subscription was coming to a close on 31 March, there was an SMS appeal to continue for another 6 months with a month’s free delivery @ Rs. 599 only. Therefore, I renewed the subscription for a further period of 6 months plus 1 month with an online payment of Rs.599 against which I received a confirmation through SMS informing me that the subscription stands renewed w.e.f. 1 April 2014, Ref: W20140213CIRC8449.
However, for reasons best known to the agent, the newspaper deliveries were stopped since last week on the pretext that they were verifying the record to check if the online subscription were genuine!
But the question is why was the newspaper deliveries stopped during the currency of the earlier subscription which was valid upto 31 March 2014. Which means the either SMS confirmation was a spam or the website where I renewed the subscription was fake.
How sure can I be that the deliveries will continue after 1 April under the renewed subscription?
The agent is unapproachable, none of his phones are reachable.
