The Immortals of Melhua is been praised a lot by the readers. However when you actually read it it is not the same. The story which runs through is good but after every chapter you will seem confused as to, what the objective is that the author is trying to convey?
No doubt the plot is gripping and well described, but it seems like the author wants to convey a lot and he himself is not sure which one to stress more. The love? Praise for Shiva? Mythology? Fiction? Nothing seems to be sure of.
The worst part is the ending, however it would feel like that the book is written just to make sure the readers buy the next book in the trilogy- "The Secret Of The Nagas". Hence, there is no proper satisfaction that you get even after going through 400 pages of time consuming reading.
Overall if the objective of the whole plot would have been stressed on then it would be a much better read. Anyways, the story is gripping and if you are interested in mythology and fiction this will be a good read with some great moments that will touch you. However you will in doubt whether buy the second book or not!
