Edward Zwick( Director), who made one of the most watched war movies ever Glory, has minimal success here with this movie. The over emphasis of Samurai that the director establishes throughout the movie kinda raising them to demigod status makes you feel manipulated in the end. The story is nothing new, the screenplay is nothing extraodinary( allthough some of the dialogues are needed worth a stand up applause). The real fun in this movie is the excellent camerawork and exulting locales used throughout the shooting of the film, are just breathtakingly beautiful. The war scenes shot are among the most elaborate ever. Some of John Tolls best work. Another reason to watch the movie is Tom Cruise( actor-producer), who not only turns up with one of his most revetting roles, but delivers it so dynamicaly that it kinda turns up into a one man show. All in all if ya have a new bought home theatre you wanna know how good it really is buy the dvd and play. 3 out 5 for this baby in ma books
