Have we Betrayed Him? Oh Yes, We Surely Have...

It’s a Mighty Sad feeling but I can’t help but say that India has gone from Bad to Worst since we achieved Independence. Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s dreams have been Washed Away by our So Called Leaders and Politicians. The least they could have done, especially Gandhi, was save these Exceptional people from getting Crucified in the hands of the British. One can’t stop CRYING enough, when seeing the scenes where Bhagat, played Fantabulously by Ajay Devgan in THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH, talks to his family for the last time before dying, a Martyr India would remember for Many Generations to come. We LOST one of the most Dynamic and Intelligent people India ever produced.

He faced Death with a Smile on his face, dreamt of a United India, one which would be free from all the religious hassles and hatred, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, his effort towards achieving this GOAL was Unmistakably BRILLIANT and Heart Wrenching. A TRUE revolutionary by Heart and Soul, the Fire in him was Radiating in the atmosphere and became a National Rage.

Though the above mentioned film is the Topic of my review, rather than going into the technical details, I would rather say, that this film has captured most beautifully and realistically, the various phases of his life, without giving away too much to cinematic liberties or creative freedom. I sat to watch this film without any pre-notions or expectations, except for the fact that I knew this film was MUCH BETTER than the Others. At the End, I left the cinema hall with Tears flowing from my eyes. I couldn’t believe what I saw. A man so patriotic he would go to the extent of CHALLENGING Gandhi’s ideologies and making a mockery of the British in their own courts.

Since a review would be grossly incomplete without the details, let me go thru’ them, well not so much in detail, but briefly atleast. The three pillars which are MOST IMPORTANT for a GOOD film are: Story, Screenplay and Direction.

In this film, Rajkumar Santoshi has done a Commendable job of recreating history, delivering the same Impact which was last seen in Damini. It takes a lot of research and determination to direct such films and his efforts really shine through.

The Story and Screenplay, credited to Anjum Rajabali, are the backbone on the basis of which the film has been directed, because they are the narrators of the various incidents and their sequence, which is important to retain the fluidity. And he has done a Excellent job. The film moves at a brisk pace and never loses track, while remaining true to historical details.

The technical crew, especially the cinematography by K.V.Anand is TOP CLASS, and the Sets as well the Costumes successfully recreate the atmosphere which adds to the Overall Impact. The Music and Background score by A.R.Rahman is another Important factor which amplifies the tension and emotions in certain scenes.

The performances are uniformly Outstanding. Everyone gels instantly into their roles and imparts a soul to the character. All credits to Ajay Devgan for accepting such a difficult role and coming out Triumphant!!!

All in all, I WOULD REQUEST Everyone to go watch this film for it inspires one to work for the country. For, WE STILL NEED SUCH BHAGAT SINGHS TO SAVE INDIA FROM the Clutches of Corruption and other banes.
