Could you walk a mile in his shoes?

Why in the world was this movie not a hit at the box office? Why is there a mere 3 reviews on this movie? I don’t understand, this was one of the most dramatic, suspenseful, political movies of its time.

Kevin Spacey has been acting for many years. He seems to be best noted for his amusing performance in American Beauty, and I thought that he’d be highly praised for the dark role he portrays in The Life of David Gale. He was stunning and he really shows his talent in his role as intellectual, philosophy professor, death row advocate against capital punishment, gone rapist/murderer and sentenced to death row himself.

Kate Winslet, the leading lady of Titanic is the news reporter, Bitsy Bloom, who scores the interview with David Gale who is being put to death in a mere 4 days. She’s highly skeptical in the beginning of her interview with Gale, but then she starts piecing things together and believes wholeheartedly that Gale was set up for the death of Gale’s colleague and friend, Constance, portrayed by Laura Linney.

The twists and turns that this movie takes leaves you on the edge of your seat. Some things are quite predictable and intentional, while others throw you for a real loop. The ending is quite a shock, however, and will leave you questioning everything you ever thought you knew about our judicial system. But that’s just it, it gets the audience to think!

Other than Kate Winslet’s poor acting ability, I believe this movie merits more recognition than it’s been given. Spacey’s character is extremely appealing and he’s proved himself, yet again, to be an outstanding actor who can transform himself in front of the cameras without over-exaggeration. Bravo, Kevin!
