If you have watched the original, you should know that there isnt much that has been changed in story. Walk-in for nostalgia, and special effects recapturing your childhood.
If you are bringing a child for the movie, and its their first viewing of either films, they will definitely enjoy!
Plot:Simba is the heir to the animal throne, and this is a story of his journey from childhood to his appointment as king. This movie has many life lessons, and is a typical Disney movie, so its target audience is children.
Disney has decided to remake all its previous hits, to keep the characters fresh and relevant, and introduce them to this generation of children. This movie is part of that program, and does well, as long as its not compared to the original. This is unfortunate but understandable.
The previous remake, Jungle Book, was based on a fairly old film, hence audiences didnt have too much of a problem is the director changed the story significantly. But Lion King is a 1990s hit, and the director had to be careful. You can see how he has struggled to make this film more realistic and different from the cartoon, but has to stick to the original plot.
The special effects are good, and the frame-by-frame reincarnation of some scenes from the original is breathtaking.Watch in an IMAX cinema hall, if possible.
The voice actor for adult Simba was the worst part of the film. He wasnt expressive enough, and at times I missed the original voice actor from the previous film . All the other cast members are fine, and I felt they did justice to their character.
