The Martian is a science fiction thriller directed by Ridley Scott and written by Drew Goddard starring Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wig, Jeff Daniels and Kate Mara. The movie is adapted from the novel written by Andy Weir of the same name.
The movie focuses on the survival of astronaut Mark Watney who is presumed to be dead by his crew members during a mission to the Mars and they leave the planet leaving him behind. The movie is all about the survival of Mark Watney. Would the humans take a risk to bring him back to earth? Watch out the movie for the answer.
Ridley Scott is a director who has amazed us with many films and his vision and craftsman ship works well here too. His imaginary creation is entirely edible to the audience. In order to cut the tension, many witty dialogues were added which perfectly blends with the situation. The humor content never made the movie to deviate from its original plot. The movie is visually stunning and technically brilliant. Thanks to cinematographer, editor and the VFX team.
Matt Damon is a pure gem and the movie is incomplete without his matured and controlled performance. It is definitely one of his best performances till date. Another thing to be noted in his performance is the comedy timing. “Perfect” is the only word that can be used to describe his character and performance.
When Nolan used a confused and complicated theory to describe space travel, Ridley chose a simpler way to describe it. Both are unique in their own ways but still Interstellar remains my personal favorite.
In short The Martian is a movie that should be watched from the theaters itself and try to watch the movie in 3D itself for a stunning experience.
