It's the Man behind the Hotel

The Oberoi is a Hotel of international standard in Delhi. Obviously, it is a Five Star Hotel, belonging to The Oberoi Group. The success of The Oberoi Chain is due to the devotion and dedication of an unassuming person called M. S. Oberoi He is no more. He had bought a very small hotel in Shimla, and then gradually built his empire. Among the five star Hotels in Delhi - Taj Palace, Tajmahal, The Ashoka, Hotel Sofitel Surya and the like, The Oberoi stands out as a distinctly different one. Here, everything from decor to cuisine, used to have the personal attention of the grand old man, the Bhisma Pitamaha of Hotel Industries. Hence the success. As Shiv Khera says in his book ’You can do it’: ’’Successful people don’t do different things, they do things differently’’. It is how you do that matters, not what you do.

I have not stayed in the Delhi Oberoi, but have stayed in Lanka Oberoi in Colombo. Its situation is beautiful. Just touching the Bay of Bengal, the Coconut trees in its compound adds beauty to its ambience. It is evident that MS had an eye for beauty. The attendants and room maids are charming, and the girls at the Front Office are just beautiful in their sarees.

Oberoi’s food everywhere is superb. Its dishes, Indian, Mogalai, Chinese, and Continental are second to none in the world. In Lanka Oberoi, the Mulagataney Soup is as delicious as the clear Chicken Soup in the Delhi Oberoi. Its rooms are really luxurious, and the soaps, shampoos and towels are of superior quality. You can send Fax and e-mails without any hassles.

The stationaries are equally nice.

With everything in Oberoi of high class, why not all of us ask our travel agents to put us in Oberoi and Oberoi alone ?
