Had stayed in the Park for a day when I was in Chennai some days ago and was a little disappointed. Having stayed in the likes of Taj, Le Meridien, ITC group, etc, one does expect a fair bit from a hotel that claims to be in the same class.
Let’s talk the good side first. The pickup from the airport was smooth. The room was good and clean. The facilities in the room and the washroom was good. The check in process was simple. Most importantly, the location is very good. Also, the restaurants and the pool are very good, and the breakfast is pretty well laid out.
And now to the flip side. The booking was taken a week ago but only after I arrived in the hotel, I was told that the room needs to be vacated in the first half (I had checked late evening) since another booking had been taken. Other hotels do inform in advance.
Except for the restaurant staff, the other members of the staff lacked a personal touch and did not appear too warm. Also, it took a lot of time for the checkout process and the arrangement for a drop vehicle. But, these things apart, one of the issues was the noise that seemed to come from the corridor. Am not sure whether it is on account of the lack of sound-proofing or some major work being done, but it does get disturbing, when one is not able to rest.
Also, it is in the middle of the city and the view is not great from the rooms.
All in all, it is a decent place to stay, but would suggest we look for alternatives if available. A wee bet more expensive than its worth. But, there is a definite room for improvement, before they steal the thunder from any of the other well known names.
