Though I am a big loyalist of fiction books but, reading this book has been an altogether different experience. First of all, I bow down to Nadia for such a brave attempt at writing a novel that might be a work of fiction yet so close to reality.
Helplessness, cultural values, legacies, destiny, the constant desire to control ones own fate- it all has been knitted so well in the story of Rahima and her sister that I fall short of words to explain. Talking about bacha posh when a female can stay and be treated as a boy until the marriageable age is reached; this book has brought a face of Afghan society that we may not be aware of otherwise. I came across this book in library sometime in June. So gripping its narration is that I completed reading it within a week.
I would not want to reveal the plot here because it is a must-read. Read it guys, its brilliant.
