“The Planet’s Funniest Animals” is probably the best programme on pet animals on the ANIMAL PLANET channel. Forget about those long and serious documentaries on a particular animal, nothing, absolutely nothing comes close to this only-one-of its-kind animal show. Everything about this programme is funny---from the videos of the animals to the humorous descriptions they come with.And Matt Gallant’s presentation is simply superb. More on him later. Following are brief descriptions----
THE FUNNIEST CONCEPT---
The concept of the programme is quite complex.There are strange and funny activities of animals and birds which we usually don’t come across. How many times have you seen a cat falling off while trying to catch its prey?Or a dog playing a piano and barking ?The makers of the programme gather the video evidences of all such interesting instances and present it to the viewers, describing them in humorous ways.
For example, it was once shown that a small cat (but not a kitten) was being licked affectionately by a deer.The description of this video went like”.......and here, when someone is licked by a person who is very deer.......”Catchy and witty description this, more so when you are enjoying the video.
Now you can well understand that this is indeed a difficult concept but still it has been brilliantly executed throughout all the episodes till date.
THE FUNNIEST EPISODES---
The programme shows numerous video clips with animals (most of them are pets) doing bizarre things. Like, a cute kitten trying to get out of a small round bowl, slipping each time. A squirrel trying to crack nuts, a dog dressed as a cop on a motorcycle (of course, with his master), a black bear sitting on a chair enjoying his lunch, a cat climbing up the leg of his master to take a delicious sip from the milk bowl , a pet squirrel balancing its way to a tree on a rope, a small dog moving with its rear legs up etc. There are a variety of such unimaginable videos and you will love to watch them. Iam sure you will enjoy and be a regular watcher.And don’t miss the appropriate sounds and Matt’s unique descriptions, accompanying each clip.
THE FUNNIEST SOUNDS---
What happens when a cat licks his master’s bald head? Does it produce a fairly audible sound? I don’t think so. But when you watch a similar video in “The Planet’s Funniest Animals”you hear a custom”slatch slatch!” sound.Thats artificial, definitely the cat isn’t producing it, but this “special effect” adds to the fun-factor of the programme. There are various exclusive sounds conceived for the video clips and they make the clips appear even more funny.
THE FUNNIEST DESCRIPTIONS---
These are the main things that will make you laugh. A dog moving in a zig-zag manner is described as”...........his brakes aren’t functioning properly .......!”.Eventually, the dog rams into the dining table, aptly described as, ”..........how many times I have to tell you that a vehicle with bad brakes often end up, like this?!”......My description doesn’t do justice to the excellent and appropriate tone in which the video-clips are described.Just watch it and enjoy.
Also the commercial breaks are announced humorously. In a certain episode, Matt put it like this”.....And here, ladies and gentlemen, comes the most exciting part of the show---------the commercials, ...for free!!”.and smiled sweetly.His originality is brilliant and inimitable.
THE ULTIMATE HOST---
I have saved the best for the last.The programme is hosted by Matt Gallant. He smartly walks in, stands and presents the programme and calmly walks out when the episode is finished.It is very difficult to describe him in words.His way of presenting the programme will keep you hooked.Watch an episode of , “The Planet’s Funniest Animals’’ and get an idea. Really, I don’t have words to describe Matt’s exotic presentation. Its absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
