This is the story of Hugh Glasd ( DiCaprio) , who in 1823, while on a huntingtrip, gets mauled in a brutal bear attack. His team, unable to make the trek with him, leaves him for dead in the mountains. Glass, fuelled by vengeance and armed with his survival skills, makes the gruelling journey home, despite his severe injuries.
Alejandro Inarritu is a master film-maker, again proved from the first frame of the film. Every shot of the winter-ravaged mountain is beautiful, but never once does the viewer overcome the fear of the power of nature’s elements.
