Deceit, did she do It?

I saw ’’The Rich Man’s Wife’’ on HBO cable TV this morning and to be perfectly honest I didn’t expect much. It was the movie’s advertisements and trailers of this movie that didn’t spark my interest. After watching this very intense movie I was in for a big surprise ’’The Rich Man’s Wife’’ is actually a very good drama, mystery, thriller and suspenseful movie.

The plot is pretty much the same in all of these sorts of movies, the wife or husband is always planning a way to kill each other for wealth. It may be an insurance policy, the will or the good old-fashioned inheritance. Despite the many attempts with the prenuptial agreements murder is always the key. Haven’t you seen these sort of movies many, many times folks? They are always predictable but very good.

Hally Barry is the lead actor in this movie and I must say she does an excellent good job as usual. ’’The Rich Man’s Wife’’ is directed and written by Amy Holden Jones. This movie was released in 1996 and its running time is 2 hours.

The movie begins in the police station, a sadden wife (Hally Barry, Monster?s Ball) is telling her story of her husband?s murder. Her husband is a middle aged wealthy caucasion TV Executive (Christopher McDonald, The Skulls) and his wife is a beautiful and troubled young African American woman. Their relationship is pretty shaky, as he’s pretty unstapled himself suffering from a drinking problem. However, he loves his wife, but his wife is frustrated and hurt as a result of the unhappiness she experiences in their marriage. Her plan of deceit begins when she and her spouse take a vacation to their home in the mountains.

Later she meets a smooth talking man (Peter Green, Training Day) to whom she shares her desire to see her husband dead. Later things take a turn for the worst when the fella she meets begin to do things his way along with more interesting surprises in this planned murder unfolds. We also discover a shocking and deceitful conspiracy that takes a surprising turn. I stop here you’ll find out what happens next when your purchase this movie.

Final thoughts on ’’The Rich Man’s Wife’’

Overall, ’’The Rich Man’s Wife’’ is a well-done movie. The script is done with craftiness and skill despite this being a very predictable movie. As for the pacing, it moves in excellent sequence without a dull moment. The action scenes are very well done, and this cast does a fairly good job. Hally Barry does an excellent job in her lead role in ’’The Rich Man’s Wife.’’ In fact, I thought she appeared more tasteful in this movie than her lead and Academy award winning role in ’’Monster’s Ball.’’ But that’s Hollywood! This movie scores 5 stars it’s excellent.
