In an ancient Egypt about 5, 000 years prior to The Mummy Returns, a handsome mercenary MATHAYUS(The Rock of WWF fame...Dwayne Johnson) lives who with his 2 friends fights for a living.
An evil warlord, MEMNON (Steven Brand), goes on killing spree conquering the land with his army, smashing villages and small kingdoms, killing ordinary citizens. Memnon is always successfull as he only fights the battles that his sorceress CASSANDRA (Kelly Hu) , has foreseen in her visions as profitable.
MATHAYUS and his meery men are summoned by the Leader of the Rebels who are against MEMNON. They seek MATHAYUS services to get the sorceress CASSANDRA killed and put a stop to his tyranny.
In due course of action, MATHAYUS gets captive and his friends are killed. Our hero is sentenced to death where hes buried to neck in earth and ants have to bite him to death. There he comes across a thief(Grant Heslov) who saves his life from the deadly ants.
MATHAYUS escapes and in due course finds the sorceress CASSANDRA, and takes her with him to the rebels. But he was against the sorceress getting killed. Instead he wants to kill MEMNON and bring an end to all of this. One of the rebel leaders BALTHAZAR (Michael Clarke Duncan) is against this and a fight ensues.MATHAYUS is the winner again.
Now with help of BALTHAZAR and his lady warriors MATHAYUS sends MEMNON to oblivion. And thus he becomes the First Pharoah of Egypt, known as THE SCORPION KING.
