I brought this movie from my nearest DVD library and I am glad that it was worth the two hours spent watching it. The Time Machine is a science fictional movie about an invention which allows you to go back or forward in time!
Alexander Hartdegen is a scientist who is determined to prove that time travel is possible. His determination is turned to desperation by a personal tragedy that now drives him to want to change the past. He loses his girlfriend due to a petty thiefs bullet at the neighbourhood park during a scuffle.
In despair, he works hard for four years and invents a Time Machine which allows him to go back in time and meet his girlfriend and relive those moments when he was wooing her. Unfortunately, he again cannot prevent her from getting killed at that same moment but this time by a carriage.
Testing his theories with his time machine, he is then hurtled 800, 000 years into the future, where he discovers a terrifying new world, where mankind has divided into the hunter.........and the hunted.
Acting by Guy Pearce as the scientist is good and the film has some splendid visualizations of the past and the future. It shows how the skirt line of women keeps getting shorter from past to the future. Also, it shows how the entire landscape changes from dense forest to tall skyscrapers and buildings.
All in all an enjoyable movie!
