Worst English newspaper I've ever read

TOI is one of the worst English newspapers I’ve ever read. The news in the paper is NOT news: it’s pure sensationalism just to gain more readers and money. Most of their "news" is biased towards Congress, liberal issues, corporates and the USA.

They feel that whatever they think is right for India. So, for most news, they put one Times View highlighting their opinion on their article and vehemently opposing views which are contrary to their own. Also, they start some stupid campaigns on some stupid issues and force readers to register for them as if that campaign will make any change for India.

They even had the audacity to frame a manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha election and force the political parties to follow that manifesto. For your kind information, Bennett Coleman and Co., media is not supposed to force their opinions on others. Just report both sides of the issue and leave the personal opinions to the editorial page in the middle of the newspaper.

Even the sports news is bad in this newspaper, full of sensationalism. At least The Hindu, another newspaper which I hate, has a good sports section.

This paper is also sold to the corporates. Apart from the pro-corporate and anti-poor news, this paper shows advertisements in its front page every other day and is even modified on some days to promote some brand(One one day, the paper was blue in colour to promote the VW BlueMotion technology, while on another day, the paper smelt like coffee to promote Nescafe coffee).

The supplement is a pure tabloid: full of news related to sex, parties showing skimpily-clad women shamelessly having a glass of alcohol on their hand and filmi gossip. There are also pictures of nude and semi-nude celebrities and even photos of sex scenes(both straight and gay). Suppose the kids of the people who subscribe to this paper read the supplement, wouldn’t they get exposed to sex and partying at such a young age?

The paper is quite expensive too, as it comes along with Bangalore Mirror(or some other Mirror, depending on the city), a rubbish tabloid which is worse than TOI. But of course, Bennett Coleman and Co. hate the poor, so they have to overprice their paper. The English used in this paper is the worst.

Even though I don’t support Aligarh Muslim University and their ideas, they were right to ban Times of India from their library. This paper is rubbish and a bad influence on children and youth. If you want quality news without any bias, sensationalism or boredom, with decent family-friendly supplements and a decent standard of English which is neither high nor low, read Deccan Herald or The New Indian Express.
