Not the best of TIMES!!

For the last three decades or so, my father was subscribing to the Times of India, except for a brief period when the Indian Express frequented our home. But I have grown up, primarily on a regualr diet of the TOI.

However, the contents of the TOI never appealed to me, and for this reason I started growing up as an intellectually emaciated individual.

However, only recently have I completely stopped subscribing to the newspaper and have shifted loyalties (read monthly bill) to the Asian Age, which I regard as hugely informative.

The best thing about the TOI were its art and culture pages on Sunday, which after the ouster of Nikhat Kazmi in Delhi and Khalid Mohammed in Mumbai have become luke-warm. The intensity of their searing reviews is missing in Jitesh Pillai’s columns.

On the positive part, the Sunday magazine section still makes good fodder for the senses.

On the whole, I wouldn’t recommend the newspaper. It looks, sounds, and smells so conceited
