I agree with amrita’s and sadsack’s review about TOI and personally feel the same. Shutupmukul’s review made me rethink all about what TOI was, is and the path it is following to sustain its position.
I think that shutupmukul is a jounalist himself coz the stand taken by his review is depicting it directly. Things which hurt and are bad are Bad. Lets admit it. But at the same time it does not imply that we should stop doing so. I personally do not like TOI for the many reasons pointed by amrita. In fact these are exactly the same thoughts which have been in my mind. Thanx amrita for reading my mind. I too begin my day with the TOI which I feel gives a lot of coverage to all but ACTUAL news. I mean if Miss Universe, World and Asia are all Indians, does it imply that TOI would cover it on a daily basis on its front page. Take for example Yukta Mookhey’s coverage. Hey cmon, isn’t Bombay Times a supplement entirely dedicated to this purpose about Movies, Music, gossip and similar stuff???
But no, TOI will cover all about her in its main section giving less importance to other issues.
There should be a limit to its coverage on these topics in its main supplement.
I urge you all readers reading my review to answer me----Was the massive coverage given to Yukta by TOI correct. Initially YES, but don’t you all feel there was an overdose of it at a later stage????When her term was to end there was sign of relief to the common man that now at least they would have to see less of her.
Mind you, TOI is supposed to be a newspaper for all..especilly the masses.Do you think that the average person would like to see an overdose of all this on the front page itself? nah
I agree that TOI is one of the oldest in its times, but that is not the sufficient reason for it to be popular. I subscribe to TOI, but at the same time I also get other nespapers and magazines which keep me updated with all the happenings all over the globe.
To sum it all I would like to request shutupmukul to try to base his own opinions and reviews in a larger fame of mind coz he too has an art of writing which can be beneficial if taken in the right spirit and use by him.
