Crimes Of India

Yes thats how I would like to call this newspaper. I opted for TOI when it was launched in chennai last year. Its been a disappointment from the very first week. There is sensationalism all around. The news paper tends to take sides in every report published.

As if this was not sufficient I noticed that crime gets more than its due share of attention. In fact I did a bit of a study and found that on any given day at least (excluding sports page) 30% of the articles pertain to petty crime and murder. If you want to know which auto drivers wife ran away with which neighbour then read COI. 25% allocated to sex and related matters.

There was an article on the front page, yes front page, telling you how watermelon at bedtime would improve libido. Few days back when all news papers were talking about the railway budget...COI preferred to give the rail accident priority. The reporting of the satyam story also reeked of cheap sensationalism.

There was this "senior manager" who constantly spoke to them in "private" providing them water cooler discussions on the happenings within the company.Very disappointing TOI...very disappointing.
