Daily Newspapers

I read two e-newspapers on working days mostly. They are the Times of India and Business Standard. I have taken one year subscription.

While I am happy to get the daily dose of happenings around the world, with editorial perspectives that are so clear and precise, I am here writing to readers and publishers to reassess the drift of the news they are pouring.

While the goodies of the current government must be talked about, after all they are doing good to society in some form be it GST or transferring money to farmers and upholding their interests. Good, they deserve the kudos when needed, but also, they must highlight what negative things are going on.

One issue which came to my notice is the Indian currency. Nobody is talking about it. Can Business Standard suggest that we NRIs should save in AED/USD rather than INR because the currency has gone into tailspin. Afterall the editorial can talk about it.

Somebody said compare the salary in India converted in dollars of 2010 and now, you will be at par. Is it true.

So much content but nothing negative as a perspective.

Corruption is everywhere in India. Every government official takes bribes and makes big assets. Nothing on that.

This government has done good, but we cannot portray that all is good as it is being done now.

There must be a rational decision on hidden bad things happening in India. Surely, if I have pointed out two things above, there must be plenty hidden.

And it should come to the fore in newspapers in a modest way. You can start a critical column where you mention only negative things and the people who want to look at it can and who don’t want to can leave it.

Same with editorial as a critic’s column.

Assign someone to work on these negative things and bring it to light daily. So that it is asked to people to be aware of bad things happening around. And suggest how to improve.

Also, I visited Mumbai twice or thrice in two years. And my God its bumper to bumper on roads.

How does one commute and if you talk to the politicians about why you are not making other cities a hub of businesses when already the city is bursting at its seams with nothing to offer but more congestion, the politicians say we are more intelligent than you. How? The land rates and the other rates are high in already filled cities. If we make new hubs, it will hurt the earnings.

Where can you find all these things in your publishing? Why you must write all that you can know from anywhere now. Why not mention these aspects dear to so many people.

It’s time for change and improvement. Think about it.
