While I was in twelfth standard then I subscribed Times Of India to increase my writing abilities. I don’t know after reading this Newspaper my witting skill increased how much. After the exam I unsubscribed the paper and started to subscribe The Telegraph of ABP Publishers’.
The day before yesterday while I was in Sahid Minar, i saw some vendors gave everybody the newspaper at no cost! The incident astonished me. Then I came to know that Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday the price of this newspaper is 1 rupee. What a demotion!
Times Of India is among those newspapers which concentrates on models rather than news. It gives important night dress of Britney Spears more than the flood in Orissa. The reporting is also not a very high class reporting. Yellow journalism is also a disease of this newspaper. This newspaper is really a disaster in reporting field.
Some Pros.
Sports Coverage is better than other section. During the cricket or football world cup the supplementary paper was well published. The Picture section was also really very good.
Entertainment Times is also a very good masala supplementary.
Times Education Supplementary is well published. The career section is a very useful for the forth coming professionals.
The website http://www.timesofindia.com is a very good online newspaper. The updating is excellent in that.
Some coverage in current affairs, some good essays. Cartoons.
Cons.
1)Too much model minded newspaper. A supplementary named City Times(From Calcutta named CALCUTTA TIMES, from Delhi named Delhi times etc) has no connection with the city. There is no relation between this supplementary with the people and culture of the city. What is the relation between Jennifer Lopez with a city of India? In that paper we find every day one or two models are sitting or meeting themselves or waiting 4-car etc. This is really ridiculous.
2)The polling section. I found many disarrangement in this section. Once there was a question “IS SAURAV IS THE BEST EVER CAPTAIN OF INDIA”. I saw in the newspaper that 53% of people were telling No. But after that while I opened the https://indiatimes.com site I saw (In the result of previous poll) 56% of people were saying YES.
3)There is lack of regional news of the State related with the newspaper. I found very few news about the incidents occurred in the north Bengal or east Bengal.
4)The letters published in this newspaper is very few. They do not give importance to the readers letters.
5)Reporting is very poor. Their news of International news “xxx is going to be a proud mother/father”.
6)So much advertisement. This is very irritating.
Above all this newspaper is among the worst newspapers in India.
