The Times of India is a daily which grows on you. My mornings feel complete only when I read the TOI...but lately I have been feeling a bit let down and the reading matter somehow does not feel wholesome. I attribute this to pages and pages wasted on waste material.
What does one look for in the papers anyway ? News, local and international, coverage of important headline events like earthquakes , hijackings, derailments and the like. The entertainments in cinema and theatre, films, cartoons, crosswords and such pastimes necessary for ones amusements. The finance and stock market positions for the business and commerce inclined persons. And of coarse sports, chess, cricket. But why on earth are we reading about pages full of designer clothes with fancy prices starting from nothing less than 5K, staring at designers pictures staring back at us, their lifestyles...Then there are the industrialists with their wives, kids smiling contentedly at us. Does anyone care to know who visits which restaurant and the goings on ...?Do we really have to spend for all those colourful pages full of such crap like which model does what with whom , be they party animals or whosoever? I think TOI should have a separate sale of this kind of news for those interested in it. This way, it will spare the average, as also the smart, intelligent, ambitious, but wise readers from feeling cheated and naturally a little frustrated ...and THIS is no way to begin your day. Have something inspiring and motivating instead! As for me, I have a fair idea of what I would desire to read...I am sure so would many of the readers.
