Are we really concerned about the victims

Tsunami, though had a very devastating affect on me, I was literally enveloped by feeling of depression and was more than eager to help the victims of such a catatrophic event. But it came to me as a surprise, when I noticed the casual attitudes of people here in Pakistan about it.

The society in which I move were least concerned about it as according to them they have more important affairs to deal with.I came up with the idea of rasing funds for the deprived and supressed people but at that moment I felt that not even my best friend was with me in this cause.

I wonder, where are we heading and what exactly we want to achive in life, if such pursuits are not on our priority list then how can we say that mankind is united???.I see people spending in tremedous amount on events like their daughters wedding, but they are least concerned about the other daughters who are going through misery, they are not even ready to think about for even a second.

People these days are so engrossed in their affairs that they hardly care about anyone, and this is giving a wrong depiction of an Islamic Society, Islam stresses on being kind and generous to the humanity at large, if we are not fulfilling this obligation how can we claim to be Muslims?
