Tsu nami? The killer wave
The last year has seen many ups and downs for the world in the field of sports where Brian Lara regained the world record for the highest individual score and our country saw the Congress government at the centre which came as a rude shock to the whole nation and the public fight of the Ambani brothers over ownership and ofcourse the arrest the Kanchi Pontiff which was a total shocker tome, but that all was subsided with the news of people being washed away by this killer wave that literally washed people and properties off.
As I sit down to write a review for one of the most fateful and destruction that stuck this part of the world in 2004 I only have tears and tales of stories to tell about this killer wave that rocked the South East Asian nations on the fateful morning of 26th December, 2004.
Tsu Nami? Tsu Nami who?
Tsu means harbor, while the Nami means wave and I had read in books that it was earlier called as tidal waves. It gets generated in a body of water by an impulsive disturbance that vertically displaces the water column. Tsunamis can savagely attack coastlines, causing devastating property damage and loss of life which is what happened on that fateful day.
The first thing that went on to my mind was to call my cousin who stays in Chennai and they all were safe and it was a great relief to me to hear that but a very dear friend of mine passed away when he had been to Marina beach that day for a walk.
I dedicate this review to my good old friend Ranjeet who passed away in Tsu Nami attacks.
The importance of one person is known only when he/she is not there with you and that is exactly what is happening to not just me but to each and everyone who has lost his near and dear ones.
Now arise a million dollar question! What needs to be done now?
? There needs to be Tsu nami sensors that need to be installed and I know there is a huge investment but then the government needs to think in long term perspective.
? As always is the case there needs a efficient system which needs to see to it that the funds that we are giving reaches the right and deserved ones rather than going to the Middle Men.
? We must all understand that the need of the hour for all the victims is the mental back up as people have lost their near and dear ones and they seriously need psychological assistance as much as they need a normal mental check up.
? It will probably take a lot of time for the places that are damaged to get restored and probably this is the time where in we can play our parts by probably adopting children who have lost everything and Iam very sure that this is something which not every person would be thinking off. I for one firmly believe that this is the time where we all will stand up and show up our solidarity towards people who have lost almost everything in a span of a few moments might require much more than just your money and clothes. He requires your love and presence more than anything else.
? Everyone giving a monthly salary and a day?s salary is very good sign but one must realize that these people may actually build up a hutments out there using a common medium and now this can be using a company and probably companies such as L&T can come forward and send its engineers out there to build up hutments which could give the affected people a proper shelter. The affected areas could come up immensely if at all some smart moves could be made and the money could be utilized in such a way that people who are traumatized could live in life of peace.
I do understand that these are my personal views and many may not be practical and one can comment saying that I am emotionally thinking. But the people need to think of practical ways of improving the areas that are affected or else the very same story of money coming into the middle men will be coming into the news time and again.
Will we be more serious this time?
