The review about “The Village” restaurant is the second I am writing for MS. This should have been my first, since a dinner at this restaurant made me realize the use and importance of reviews on restaurants and drove me to write this.
After a hectic shopping my husband and I decided to try “The Village”. Well the roof-top restaurant was looking impressive with a village atmosphere. We took a seat at the end with a road view and ordered soup and a starter. It started to rain when we were waiting for our food. Since the pouring got heavy we asked the waiter to pull down the screens. The waiter politely refused saying that the other people may object for this. We were wondering why they would, as it was cold and dark outside; they can object neither for the air nor for the view.
Meanwhile someone had vacated and hence we were offered another table inside; we moved there and the food arrived. The tomato soup we had ordered was unpalatable. Unwilling to try any fancy items, we ordered Baingan Bartha and Roti. After a long wait the waiter finally arrived and served some strange looking dish on our plate. Since it did not look like Baingan Bartha from any angle we looked, we had to reconfirm with the waiter. He said it was some “Chicken.XYZ” dish. When we corrected him that we had ordered Baingan Bartha, the waiter quickly removed the contents from our plate and fled to serve it to someone else. Later another guy brought our Baingan Bartha. Being pure veggies we asked him to change the plate. The waiter, who should have done this by himself, was reluctant to do that even after we had demanded for it. After so much hungama we ate the roti and the intolerable Baingan Bartha. I don’t know how on earth they could mess up the simple Baingan Bartha and make it taste so bad.
This unpleasant experience has made me picky about restaurants these days. Recently, I spotted another branch of this restaurant in Marthahalli. With the kind of food and service they provide I doubt whether people would prefer to dine here.
