Thevar Magan is a excellent tamil movie.Its a story of a upper caste village tamil youth who have to go to the city for his education and in the process wins the heart of a romantic urban girl. He goes back to his village to see his father after completing studies along with her lover.The village is experiencing hell of violence and quarrels due to personal enemity between his family and a relative and also was badly affected due to caste differences.
The picture beautifully depicts how the much ambitiuous village youth from the city has to forget his ambitions and love and marries a local girl and settles there itself as a village head , as a Thevarmagan after his fathers death. He tries his best to stop the mad violence in the name of caste and personal enemity and in the end succumbs to the same and becomes a victim of the same.
The famous tamil hero Kamalhassan has done the village youths role. Kamal has done a excellent acting in this picture and no othe actor could have done better than him in this role. The great renowned actor Chevalie Shivaji Ganesan has done the role of Kamal’s father and a village head.He as usual was brilliant in his performance.It is a pity we have lost this great actor.Actress Gauthami is the urban girl and lover of kamal and actress Revathi is the village girl who marries Kamal .Both have done well in their roles.The music is very very good and all the songs are a hit particularly ’’Enghi Eduppazhyaga’’.
The picturisation of the story was very good and the camera has done a excellent work in capturing the typical south indian tamil village.
I recommend this picture strongly to everbody who has not already seen this. It is very difficult to catch this in a theatre as it very old. You have to try the CD at your local video library.
