The kindling ray that shot across the dark and drear abyss- Was it beneath? or high aloft? What bard can answer this? There fecundating powers were found, and mighty forces strove- A self-supporting mass beneath, and energy above.
Who knows, who ever told, from whence this vast creation rose? No gods had then been born - who then can e’er the truth disclose? Whence sprang this world, and whether framed by hand divine or no- Its lord in heaven alone can tell, if even he can show. - Rigveda
Since Eons, mankind has been grappling with the ultimate question, who are we and what’s are role in this cosmos. What’s life, both within and outside, as we experience it. There have been umpteen explanations which pertain to mythological, scientific and philosophical realms. An attempt wld be made here, the scientific way, but beyond the conventional.
Lets focus on life as we experience it and go through. Out of the past, present and future, only Present is infinitesimal, or instantaneous. Both Past and Future resemble time periods, sure and probable respectively, that is spread across. The present is thus an infinitesimal time period, which we wld refer to as an “event” from now on.
Every time the infinitesimal Present passes through, an Event occurs. And as it occurs, it becomes a part of set of events called Past. Prior to its occurrence as an event, its part of a set of events called Future. This transition of an event from the Future Set to infinitesimal Present to past Set goes on. I
ndividual life spans would then be sub-sets of super sets of events which govern the entire cosmos. Whether a reverse flow occurs, at the back end, when the Past Set events roll over to Future Set events, without transition to present infinitesimal, is arguable.
Emotionally and physically, these Events may be good, bad or normal. But for the Natural scientific logic, they are just the result of some complex equation that’s comprised of several variables, each having a definite value that derived from somewhere. Some of the variables may be related to past deeds, both from the present and previous births, and others to what would happen in future, the present state, the positive and negative energies associated with, and so on.
Picture this, a gigantic screen that shows up Numbers, each such number is an event in your life, and each such number would be the result of some variables, knitted together in some equation, the number of variables is unknown, as also their values. The greatest challenge for the mankind would then be to determine this equation, and the variables.
Assume now, a variable attached to this equation which is of random nature. This would necessitate that every event would be randomized to a certain extent. The event thus generated would then be affected by other variables in the Nature’s equation. Hence, as an example, if the overall event was negative considering only this random variable, it would be offset by a strong positive karmic cycle variable, making the overall event less negative.
There should also be some feedback element attached. For example, what do we do now, would affect the future, and in turn to make that future event happen, something should happen in the Present, our Event. Hence, if you are following a negative karmic cycle, and some positive event were to happen in future, it would be negated by your negative deeds, and to reflect that, the feedback element would then affect your present. So your course of life would change, and most likely it would be on the negative side.
Doesn’t the randomness remind us of something basic we learnt in our school physics? The electron probability cloud? The Heisenberg’s Uncertainty principle, which stated that the electron movement is just a probability cloud with limited accuracy? If we recall that all matter is comprised of these subatomic particles, logic would be that what goes on inside must reflect outside, and hence the probability our life.
