I suggest against taking any trip organized by Thomas Cook especially those booking from Delhi.
Poor customer service, incompetent staff (including senior level), lack of responsibility with visa services are only a few of the issues one would face.
Had a nightmarish experience with the tour Delights of Japan (June 2013).
We booked our tour through an agent. The cost quoted by the Thomas Cook Agent Dept was much higher than what was quoted by the Retail Dept. What ensued was an embarrassing experience at their CP (New Delhi) office. The two departments refused to sit together and agree upon a single quote. When we agreed to book with the Retail Dept, the Agent Dept agreed to provide the tour at the same cost.
PLEASE VERIFY THE TOUR PACKAGE COST FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES.
Neither did we know the visa horror waiting to unfold once the booking was settled. Our visa for Japan was delayed because Thomas Cook failed to submit the documents on time. They assume absolutely no responsibility for the services provided.
We were told the visa would be processed in 1 day because they had contacts within the embassy who could be bribed! Alas it didn’t happen. On writing to them several times about the arrangements for not joining the tour on time no reply was received. We personally visited the Manager who was as incompetent as his subordinates. We were refused any refund for the day we had missed.
I wrote to their Customer Service Department after arrival to which no reply was received for a month. Only when I posted on their Facebook page did a reply come through. Not surprising the customer was blamed for not submitting the documents on time.
This is not a one off case. Several other families on the same tour had similar experiences prior to departure.
PLEASE DO NOT LET THOMAS COOK SPOIL YOUR HOLIDAY!
